Attention Teachers!

IMG_1261           The FARMS Community Kitchen in Damariscotta is open, and we are eager to have classes of students from your school learn to cook in our fine new facility.

The Community Kitchen is a space for people of all ages to gather, learn about cooking techniques, and prepare and eat healthy, local food together. The goal of the Kitchen is to offer solutions to health, economic, and environmental concerns in a fun, inclusive and interesting way. We have set up a program to enable schools to send classes of students to the Community Kitchen to learn how to peel, slice and dice, roast, bake, simmer or stew, and then share in eating seasonal, nutritious food. Hands-on prepping, sampling and tasting are key to developing early healthy habits.  We can also tailor the cooking class to your curriculum.

We are aware of budget constraints and would like to offer the following menu of class options for the current school year.  Purchasing multiple classes is a great way to save money.  If you want to buy a package for your classroom or your school, please get in touch.

  • $45.00  –  one 2-hour cooking class

  • $129.00 – package of three 2-hour cooking classes (payable in advance)

  • $369.00 – package of nine 2-hour cooking classes (payable in advance)

  • $480.00 – package of twelve 2-hour cooking classes and healthy food-related activities, plus one teacher workshop and/or staff meeting  (payable in advance)

We hope you will consider including FARMS Kitchen Classes in your budget for the 2017-2018 school year.

Perhaps parents or grandparents would be willing to sponsor their child’s class for an event in the Kitchen.   Or maybe your Parent-Teacher Organization would be willing to fund your visit.

 Another source of funding could be a Maine Ag in the Classroom Grant
